$150,000 Pay Raise Offered to MSU President

The Montana Board of Regents said Thursday they are ready to offer Montana State University President Waded Cruzado a $150,000 pay raise to keep her from leaving for another university job that would pay even more.  That would bring her salary up to $476,524.  That would make her the highest paid person in the Montana university system and the highest paid state employee.  Cruzado said she has another offer in hand but doesn't want to leave MSU.  She is finishing her 10th year at MSU and is the ... read more

10 Suicides in Gallatin County in 3 Months

Sheriff Brian Gootkin released some mental health numbers for Gallatin County today that were staggering.  In the last 3 months, our County Sheriff, Police and Fire has seen: 458 Calls for service involving mental health  (111 in the last 2 weeks) 154 Threats of suicide  (35 in the last 2 weeks) 31 Attempted suicides  (9 in the last 2 weeks) 10 successful suicides  (3 in the last 2 weeks) Self isolation during the Corona Virus can increase mental health problems.  The Sheriff li... read more

3 More Non-Stop Airline Routes to Bozeman

In 2020, American Airlines will add daily summer service direct from Bozeman to Los Angeles (LAX) and Saturday only summer service to New York Laguardia (LGA) and Philidelphia (PHL).  That brings the total to 18 cities that will have non-stop service to Bzoeman.  Bozeman continues to be the largest airport in the state of Montana.

30 Year Fixed Rate Mortgages Still Historically Low

Even though we have seen 30 year fixed rate mortgages climb a little higher each quarter in 2018, the rates are still at historic lows when you look at rates over the last 46 years.   Even at a 5% 30 year fixed rate mortgage, this still gives buyers more buying power than the 36 year period from 1972 to 2008.  Thanks to Brett Evertz from Opportunity Bank for this chart.
