GVLT Summer Trails Challenge

The Gallatin Valley Land Trust in Bozeman is hosting their annual Summer Trails Challenge.  For every mile you walk, hike or bike generous donors will give $1 to the GVLT for every mile up to 66,000 miles.  Check out all the details and log your miles on the Gallatin Valley Land Trust web site at GVLT    This challenge ends on June 22nd so get to walking, hiking and biking.

Hiking the East Gallatin Recreation Area

One of my favorite in-town hikes are the loops around the East Gallatin Recreation Area located on the north edge of Bozeman.  There are 4 different loops to hike.  One around Glenn Lake and 3 around the East Gallatin River.  The river loops are heavily wooded and you will usually see ducks and deer.  This week there was a Great Horned Owl perched in the trees.  And this area connects to the Cherry Creek trails to the west and the Legends and Creekwood trails to the east.    ... read more
