Belgrade One Of Montana's Safest Cities

Belgrade was ranked as one of the 10 safest cities in Montana in a new report from SafeWise.  SafeWise reviewed the 2016 FBI crime statistics and population data.  The evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes (assault, murder, rape and robbery) and the number of property crimes reported (burglary, arson, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft) per 1,000 people.  Belgrade came in at #10 on the list.  The safest city according to the report was Dillon, MT.

Chalet Market 2018 Retailer of the Year

Chalet Market in Belgrade was awarded the 2018 retailer of the year during this year's Made in Montana trade show.  The Chalet Market produces and sells its own smoked meats and gift sets.  In addition to their retail store in Belgrade, they sell their products online at www.chaletmarket.com and ship to all 50 states.  Last Christmas Chalet Market shipped about 4,000 gift boxes.

Bozeman Airport Ranked #5 in The U.S.

Money Magazine has ranked the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport as the #5 best airport in the U.S.  This was in part thanks to the on-time arrival percentage of 85.75%.  Money Magaxine analyzed 80 of the nation's top airports.  They took into account customer experience scores from J.D Power, reader reviews from Travel & Leisure, on-time arrival rates, security delays and traveler amenities such as shop and restaurants.  #1 John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana, CA  #2 Portland Internat... read more

Hiking the East Gallatin Recreation Area

One of my favorite in-town hikes are the loops around the East Gallatin Recreation Area located on the north edge of Bozeman.  There are 4 different loops to hike.  One around Glenn Lake and 3 around the East Gallatin River.  The river loops are heavily wooded and you will usually see ducks and deer.  This week there was a Great Horned Owl perched in the trees.  And this area connects to the Cherry Creek trails to the west and the Legends and Creekwood trails to the east.    ... read more
