A growing population has Monforton School District looking to expand to accommodate additional students.  The student population has grown more than 200% since 2008.  The district is seeking a $3.5 million dollar bond.  The money would be used to finish the district's master plan of building 8 new classroom spaces between the two schools, additional parking, outdoor activity area, and a connector path.  The bond will cost households in the district $24 a year per $100,000 in market value.  ... read more

Belgrade Sets Record Housing Permits

The city of Belgrade set a record for the number of housing permits issued.  The city issued 143 single-family housing permits in 2017.  This breaks the old record set in 2016 of 124 housing permits.  City planners say this is great news for Belgrade's economy, which could use commercial growth.  More permits are being issued as a result of recent population growth throughout the Gallatin Valley.  Bozeman and MSU continue to be driving forces with growth in the valley.  ... read more

MSU Sets Spring 2018 Enrollment Record

Montana State University annouced it's spring headcount this week: 15,496 students, a record and one that marks 10 straight years of spring enrollment growth.This spring's number is up almost 300 students compared to the same time last year, according to Tony Cameau, the university's registrar.  University leaders credit the growth chiefly to MSU's slate of programs and initiatives aimed at keeping students in school and on track for graduation.Of the 15,496 students this spring, 13,610 are undergraduates and ... read more
