The fall enrollment for Montana State University is the 5th highest in history. There were 16,249 students enrolled this fall. A dip of 3% over the 2019 fall enrollment but MSU considers that a win with the current COVID-19 situation and having a blend of in-person and virtual online classes this year. Their retention rate (students that return for a 2nd year) hit a 30 year high of 78% and the 4 year graduation rate climbed 5% to 34.7%. This fall is also different by not having football. Football as well as most other fall sports has been moved to the spring hoping it will be more safe for athletes, students and fans.
