And The

And The "Hits" To Your Pocketbook Keep On Coming in Bozeman

As much outcry as there is about the lack of affordable housing in Bozeman, the Bozeman City Commission has raised your property taxes again.  This time in the form of a city Parks & Trail District.  The ballot measure passed on May 5th 62% to 38%.  The current property tax for city parks of about $80 a year will go away and be replace with the new tax district costing about $135 for the first year and increasing to $184 by the fifth year.  Three unpopular features of this new Parks & Trail District is there is no sunset date for the tax, it will continue forever.  The city commission can raise the tax anytime they feel like.  And there is little accountability to the citizens on what the money will be spent on.
