The Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport will set a passenger record in 2021. Their previous record was 1.57 million total passengers in 2019. In 2020 during the pandemic, they saw almost a 50% drop in traffic. In just the first 9 months of 2021, they have seen 1.5 million passengers. With 3 months yet to go in 2021, it will definitely break their previous record of total passengers. With the addition of Southwest Airlines in May of 2021 and the opening of the new jetway that added 5 additional gates has contributed to 2021 setting a record for total passengers. The airport's next project is building a new general aviation building on the north side of the runways so all of the smaller private plane traffic doesn't have to cross the main runway to use the smaller parallel runway. Then in 2022 they will make improvements to their baggage handling system for commercial flights.
