MSU Sets Fall 2018 Enrollment Record

Montana State Unversity in Bozeman has set a new fall enrollment record, with 16,902 students on campus this fall.  This represents a 1.2% increase from last year and 11 straight years of enrollment growth.  MSU also saw an increase in the number of first-time students returning for their second year, some 77.2 %.  And 62% of MSU students are from the state on Montana.

Airport Sets June Boarding Record

The Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport set another record for the total number of passengers flying in and out of the airport for the month of June.  Nearly 135,000 passengers flew in or out of Bozeman last month.  This is about a 12% increase from June of 2017 and the most the airport has ever seen in June.  Airport Director Brian Sprenger says that the success and growth of the airport helps the growth and economy of southwest Montana.  The airport expects another record breaking month ... read more

GVLT Summer Trails Challenge

The Gallatin Valley Land Trust in Bozeman is hosting their annual Summer Trails Challenge.  For every mile you walk, hike or bike generous donors will give $1 to the GVLT for every mile up to 66,000 miles.  Check out all the details and log your miles on the Gallatin Valley Land Trust web site at GVLT    This challenge ends on June 22nd so get to walking, hiking and biking.

Gallatin County Population Has Doubled

The population in Gallatin County has doubled since 1990 according to a new report form Headwaters Economics.  In 1990 the county population was 50,811 and the latest census data from 2016 is 104,502.  Gallatin County's high quality of life and natural amenities attract entrepreneurs, workers, retirees and tourists.  I grew up ski racing at Bridger Bowl going back to 1972.  I've watched this growth happen over a lot of years.  It's easy to complain about the increase in people here but the ... read more

Bozeman Sets Record Snow Fall

Bozeman sets record snow fall through April 23rd with 142.1 inches according to a KBZK TV post.  The previous snow fall record was the 1996/1997 winter with 141.5 inches.  The snow total year actually runs through June 30th and that same 1996/1997 year saw 158.5 inches in Bozeman.  So we've got a little ways to go to break the yearly total but no doubt a big snow year for Bozeman.  The city of Bozeman's goal is to have every street plowed within 7 days.  "With this year's record snow fall i... read more
